Traveling Light

Society today has been so caught up in the things that the world loves to offer to them. People have everything they ever wanted, and enough is not enough to them. They want more. In our lives, we sometimes want more so we can be happy. But that's just, in a sense, weighing you down. It's not like you're going to be having possession of everything. That's something people would want to keep in their baggage and claim it's not weighing them down when in reality it really is.
Another example is the suffering people have in their lives. We all have a lowest moment in our lives, it's not like life is going to be easy. But that's what people think life is, a walk in the park. A passing of a relative or something similiar is a moment that makes you suffer. People need to move on from that and keep on living life, because life is a path; it's not always straight. You end up taking a wrong turn and find yourself again in suffering.

  3. I agree what Jason said for many reasons. After all, I can relate. i remember wanting everything or Christmas when I was younger. Not to mention, I was unaware as to what was going on in third world countries. Overtime, I realized that there was a lot of suffering all over the world. This resulted in me becoming less selfish. One thing I appreciate in Jason's writing, was how he stated his points. In addition to how he refuted his argument. Another thing I appreciate was the metaphor he used. "...keep on living life, because life is a path; it's not always straight. This made me think of the trail and all the turns we had to take and how I had i overcome certain challenges with in the group. Most importantly, it made me think of how lucky I am to have what I have. The reason i because on the trail, all I had was food, a tent, clothes, and water. In conclusion, Jason made me reflect a lot on how fortunate I am to have the life that I have.

  4. I agree with this statement because it is true that most people are constantly roaming through the world trying anything and everything that it has to offer to try to acquire happiness. However, as it is also mentioned, people end up in their suffering once more, and they do not seem to get that happiness cannot come from the world. The path of life that is mentioned is the one that leads us to God, but most people always doubt the path because of the way things turn out and they turn away from it and enter into their sufferings once again. God invites all human beings to convert, to let go all they desire, and follow Him and I agree with this. JulianC

  5. I agree with Jason. My opinions on the topic are that there are two problems: The Baggage, and the Reliance on physical items to bring a person happiness. When you rely on items to bring you happiness, you will always run out because those things are non-ultimate. When you pair that with the fact that you're carrying so much mental, and spiritual baggage, your depression will far outweigh the happiness which is already temporary. Marcellus
